The Haste wingThe Charity's first major project is well underway. The HASTE wing has been built at the very front of the Royal Surrey County NHS Trust Hospital in Guildford, Surrey. It first opened for The Rapid Access Chest Pain clinic on April 8th 2005. The wing will be officially opened on 21st June 2005, by which time the state of the art cardiovascular MRI scanner will be operational More information about HASTE wing
01 06 2005 Arrhythmia awareness weekArrhythmias or abnormal heart rhythm is common, but fortunately dangerous arrhythmia is uncommon. Patients with heart disease may be prone to certain types, and early recognition and treatment is vital. A new Nation Service Framework document has been published setting out standards of care. In the UK we are far short of this standard, so public and GP awareness are important. You can find out more from arrhythmia awareness week, which is due May 2005 21 06 2005 The HASTE WING is officially openedHRH The Countess of Wessex officially opened the HASTE wing at the Royal Surrey County Hospital on 21/06/2005. On a bright summers day the Countess spent over an hour touring the facilities. HRH was shown the state of the art scanner, live echocardiogram, Doppler and images of PFO (patent foramen ovale) in a patient who had experienced a stroke. The Countess was shown around My HASTE Chairman Mr Peter Hutley MBE and Dr Edward Leatham Consultant Cardiologist and HASTE Trustee, met many local dignitaries, hospital staff and patients before giving a highly supportive speech and unveiling a plaque commemorating the event. Following the official opening, the HASTE wing hosted local GPs and Fundraisers for a splendid Buffet lunch and afternoon Tea- hundred of people were show around the facilities and were able to meet the whole range of specialists and teams responsible for providing the services and facilities A handout detailed the state of play of services and people involved |
